New luxury cinema with the 'wow' factor opens in Northumberland with top films lined up

If you're looking for a new place to enjoy some blockbuster movies and also fancy a trip to the coast, you're in luck. And that's because a stunning new cinema has just opened in Blyth, Northumberland that most definitely has the wow factor.

A huge venture for the town, the three screen Market Pavilion opened its doors on Friday, August 1, less than a month after the team behind it officially were handed over the keys to the building right in the heart of the seaside town, after a long spell of renovations. The Market Pavilion team have been providing updates on the build on social media since the spring, with each of the three screens having a different colour theme and featuring plush leather seats that have a similar design to the ones you'd find in flashy Bentley cars.

The aim is to offer 'affordable luxury' to both locals and visitors wanting to check out the latest Hollywood film releases and, after all of the hard work behind the scenes, the Market Pavilion welcomed its first customers this weekend. And they've hit the ground running coming when it comes to box office smashes, as the programme for the first week includes much buzzed about new releases like The Naked Gun remake, starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson and the latest Superman movie.

Other films available to book in Market Pavilion's opening week include Smurfs, Fantastic Four: First Steps and Bad Guys 2, with already acclaimed psychological thriller Weapons, starring Josh Brolin and Julia Garner, coming on Friday, August 8. That's the same day that Freaky Friday sequel, Freakier Friday, is released, reuniting Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis on screen after more than 20 years.

Tickets for all films cost a very reasonable £6.95, with some films available for £5 once they've been out a few weeks. As well as three deluxe screens, Market Pavilion also boasts a very plush lounge bar and cafe and looks absolutely beautiful from the outside, especially when lit up at night.

Popcorn and hotdogs are, of course, available to buy, along with sweets. And the reaction to the Pavilion has already been huge, with one local resident responding to a Facebook post to write: 'Looks impressive, now the rest of town centre needs smartening up to match' and another commenting: 'Very impressed with the building and staff. Its a great asset and a big improvement to the town centre in my opinion' and a third replying: 'It makes our town centre look stunning!'
