Peter Andre has landed a part in a Channel 5 murder mystery that is due to screen in just a few weeks. His new acting job comes after he faced backlash for a movie role.
The singer and I'm A Celebrity star , 52, plays a pathologist, crime-solving doctor George, in The Sunshine Murders. Set in Cyprus, the new series will be debuting on Channel 5 in September.

Father-of-five Peter recently addressed backlash from fans for his role in comedy film Jafaican, which also stars Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas known for playing bad boy Warren Fox.
Peter plays conman Gazza, who must master a Caribbean accent and culture to impersonate a notorious Jamaican gangster for a £3million payout.
Peter previously told The Sun: "When I read the script, I spent the whole time laughing. It was warm, with a deep, heartfelt message about what someone would do to care for the person that they love. It was also a beautiful tribute to Jamaica.
“But for me, working on Jafaican has been a dream come true. I know some people were a bit sceptical at first because we didn't know whether I could deliver what we had planned, but the reviews we’ve had have been phenomenal.
“I studied acting as a kid before going into music from 16, but I always knew I was going to come back to it. I always said to my dad, ‘when I get to my 40s, I'm moving back into film, that's what I want to do’.”
However, fans were left cringing at Peter's role and his accent with comments from fans on social media like, "What is happening here lad?"
And: "Peter Andre starring as the lead character of a film called JAFAICAN where he's pretending to be a Jamaican and wearing a dreadlock wig is not something I was expecting to see in the year of our Lord 2025 but here we are..."
A third said: "What fresh hell is Jafaican? Can someone let Peter Andre know he can say no."
But there were also positive comments about the film with one describing it as "the most original thing I’ve seen in a while" and another said: "This looks hilarious can’t wait to see this."
Peter is known for his stint on I'm A Celebrity, his reality shows with ex-wife Katie Price, and his music career. He has also starred in various high-profile productions of the smash-hit musical, Grease, as Teen Angel and Vince Fontain.
Speaking about his role in The Sunshine Murders a year ago, he told OK! Magazine: "I have got a part in a new Channel 5 drama as one of the lead characters, which I’m excited about.
"I can’t reveal the name of it just yet or give much away, but I start filming next month and can’t wait to get stuck in."
He added: "Watch this space!"
